How?

Sun-hot at the edge, tamed by liquid metal

Super-XT divertor keeps the plasma at the plasma material boundary very hot (the temperature of the sun).

Uses novel liquid metal alloys to handle the material challenges of plasma-material interaction.

The conventional approach relies on a cold plasma to manage the heat exhaust (the temperature of a fluorescent light) which also reduces plasma confinement.

What will it do?

Higher performance, faster development

The Super-XT divertor greatly increases the performance of toroidal fusion devices.
This can make the devices far cheaper and easier to develop (more rapid development cycle).
